The Center for Medical Education Development – Merit University is committed to formulating educational visions and strategies and leading the medical education system towards excellence.
- The Medical Education Development Center works in close and integrated collaboration with all departments of the college to achieve the following objectives: Continuous development of curricula and educational programs.
- Updating teaching, learning, and assessment methods and learning resources.
- Enhancing the capabilities and skills of faculty members to align with their teaching, research, and service roles.
- Providing a distinctive, student-centered learning environment that delivers educational material in a way that encourages active learning, creativity, and innovation.
- Promoting and upholding the values of professional medical ethics, high ideals, and social responsibility.
- Conducting research in the field of medical education to contribute to improving the quality of the educational process.
- Developing the system of continuing medical education and training for students and physicians at all levels. Expanding the teaching of practical and clinical skills to students and physicians using simulation equipment.
- Expanding the use of technology and interactive e-learning in the educational process.
- Initiating the use of distance learning and hybrid learning methods to address any emerging obstacles that may hinder the educational process, such as the emergence of the Coronavirus in 2019.
A training program of lectures was developed, comprising 15 lectures divided into a series of workshops, to introduce faculty members and teaching assistants to the basics of working at the university, the new interactive education system, the use of technology in making the educational process successful, methods of presentation and delivery, and other important topics for the progress of the educational process.
