In a move aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and raising safety standards within educational institutions, Merit University, in cooperation with the Sohag Labor Directorate, organized a comprehensive awareness seminar entitled “Your Safety Matters to Us.” This event comes as an activation of the joint cooperation protocols between the university and executive bodies to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.
The seminar aimed to highlight the objectives of occupational safety and health, and to provide a comprehensive explanation of how to identify and mitigate hazards in the workplace, with a particular focus on physical hazards and fire risks, thus ensuring the safety of all employees and affiliates of the university.
The seminar featured presentations by a select group of safety experts from the Labor Directorate. Chemist Nahla Ali Hashem, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Offices (East and West Sohag), gave a detailed presentation on proactive prevention mechanisms. Chemist Noha Mohamed Abdel Raouf, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the Directorate, reviewed the practical and legislative frameworks for workplace safety. In a gesture reflecting the university’s community role, the seminar saw active participation from school delegations including the British School, Elite International School, and Generation of the Future School.
